How Insurance Works at Graham Park Dental

Step 1. Picture Time

Just take a pic of your insurance card and send it to us—we’ll verify your benefits. Most insurances will cover 100% your first visit.

Step 2.Real Talk

We’ll give you a detailed breakdown of all costs for all services and treatments before we get to work, so there are no surprises. If you need further treatment after your first visit, we’ll let you know about any copays and what insurance will cover.

Step 3. Billing

After your procedure, we do all the back-end paperwork so you have nothing to worry about! If there are any additional costs after we’ve submitted to your insurance, we’ll let you know.

Answers from Trusted Falls Church Dentists

Get clear answers to common questions about dental care, treatments, insurance, and more. Our Falls Church dental experts are here to help you make informed decisions about your oral health.

Does insurance cover my first visit?Typically, most insurances cover preventative care, including first visits, at 100%.
Do you bill insurance for me?Yes, we bill dental insurance for all services that are covered under your plan. All you have to do is provide your dental insurance to us before your visit and we take care of the rest.
How does dental insurance work? With in-network dental insurance plans, you’ll receive 25-40% off the regular office fees. Graham Park Dental will then send a claim to be reimbursed by your insurance company. Depending on your insurance coverage, you may have to pay a portion of your service fees at the time of your visit.
What does my dental insurance cover?Dental insurance typically categorizes coverage into three main areas: preventive, basic, and major care. This often follows the 100-80-50 approach, where preventive care is fully covered, basic care is covered at 80%, and major care at 50%. Here’s a breakdown:

Preventive care: Aimed at preventing dental issues like gum disease and tooth decay, it includes regular check-ups, cleanings, oral screenings, and X-rays.

Basic care: Addresses minor to moderate dental problems such as fillings, extractions, root canals, and treatment for gum disease.

Major care: Involves complex procedures like crowns, dental implants, dentures, and oral surgery.
Is my cleaning covered by my dental insurance?Yes! Most of the time two cleanings, exams, and x-rays are covered by your dental insurance. In some instances, like if you have periodontal disease, you may require a more indepth cleaning called Scaling and Root Planing which may have an out-of-pocket cost.
Do you have payment plans?Yes! We work with Cherry to offer short and long term patient financing. This makes more costly procedures more digestible with smaller monthly payments.
Will you still take my insurance if I am Out of Network? In most instances, yes! We work with all the major insurance companies. Our team of insurance professionals will verify your benefits prior to your visit and let you know if your specific plan does not offer out of network coverage so there are no surprises.
How do I use my HSA or FSA?You can use your HSA or FSA just like a credit card. We can also provide itemized receipts if needed.
When is payment due for services?Payment is due at the time of service.
